nature camp 2011

Overview

In addition to our preschool program, Tauxemont Preschool offers one-week, Virginia-licensed camp sessions during the months of June and July, where your child can enjoy a traditional camp experience with nature hikes, camp songs, opening and closing ceremonies and more... all within our beautiful wooded setting!

Nature Camp at Tauxemont consists of 5 one-week camp sessions for children ages 3 1/2 (by June 13) through completion of kindergarten (rising first graders). July 4 camp week is also open to rising 2nd graders. Camp is directed by staff members Barbara Bradley, Lisa Finn and Dawn Matthews. This camp is intended for children who are independent and can easily separate from parents or guardians.

MORNING CAMP
Morning Camp is held Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 11:45 am. All camp themes include elements of art, literature, music and animals. Each week has a special visitor. This year will feature Backyard Alive, Under The Sea, The Raptor Conservancy, Old Mine Ranch, and Astro Events. Nutritious snacks are provided daily.

*NEW FOR 2011* AFTERNOON CAMP
Afternoon Camp is held during weeks 3 and 4, Monday through Friday from 12:15 pm to 3:00 pm. This camp is for children 4 years old through completion of kindergarten (rising first graders). Afternoon camp will include expanded elements of our traditional morning camp, allowing us to further learn about and explore the week's theme. This camp is intended for children who no longer require an afternoon nap. Children choosing to attend both morning and afternoon camp bring a lunch each day.

2011 Sessions Themes
Session One June 13 – 17 “On A Mountain”
Session Two June 20 – 24 “On The Farm”
Session Three June 27 – July 1 “In The Sky”
Session Four July 4 – 8 “At The Beach”
Session Five July 11 – 15 “In Our Backyard”

Campers may attend more than one session, however there is a three session maximum per camper.
