Nature Camp – Counselor Information

We are looking forward to our eighth year of Nature Camp at Tauxemont. In order for Nature Camp at Tauxemont Cooperative Preschool to succeed we rely on youth counselor volunteers. We hope you are having a good school year and are looking forward to summer.

Before you apply please review the following:

• Counselors must be entering the 7th grade or older and enjoy working with children ages 3 ½ through 7 years.
• Counselor volunteer hours are Monday 8:00 am to 12:30 pm and Tuesday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (camper hours are from 9:00 to 11:45).
• There are five sessions of camp and each session of camp has a different theme. Please plan to attend your full week(s) assigned.
• You will work in teams of two supervising groups of about ten children as they move from activity to activity, and assisting with crafts, hiking, games, etc.
• Be willing to perform assignments to open and close camp each day. These assignments include setting things up for the day and cleaning up at the end of the day. It is a lot of work and a lot of fun.
• Counselors over the age of 18 are required to have a Criminal Background Check. The fee for this is $15.00.
• You must attend one early evening mandatory training meeting on either June 9th, 5:30 – 7:00 pm or June 13th, 4:30 – 6:00 pm.
  Important Dates

  Return application and health form by March 31st.

  Counselor week assignments mailed the week of April 12th.

  Remember: call or e-mail to confirm your assigned week(s).

  Mandatory Counselor Training June 9th, 5:30 – 7:00 pm, or June 13th, 4:30 – 6:00 pm.
